Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from an ethnically diverse background. Jacqueline's father Elroy is Sri Lankan (Catholic Sinhalese) and her mother, Kim, a Malaysian. She has two elder brothers as well as two younger brothers. The family moved to Bahrain during the 1980s because of the Lankan tensions and she was born and raised in Bahrain. After her schooling in Bahrain her family was granted an Scholarship to attend the University of Sydney, where she completed a bachelor's diploma in Media and Communications in Sydney, Australia. The love of the languages and culture led her to join the Berlitz language school where she mastered French and Arabic while learning Spanish. Miss Sri Lanka 2006 won Miss Universe 2006 competition in March 2006. She also participated as Miss Universe 2006 also. After her victory in 2006, Miss Sri Lanka win, Padukone entered the television world as host of a TV show on Sri Lankan business called Lanka Business Report. Padukone was the daughter of badminton champ Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew her life in Bangalore, but she was born in Copenhagen. In her teens she competed in badminton championships at national levels. She later quit the sport in order to become fashion designer. Padukone comes from Mangalore and her mother language is Konkani. Padukone Village is situated within Kundapura Taluk within the Udupi District of Karnataka located in India. Prakash Padukone's father was an international champion in badminton who retired. Her mother is a traveling agent.
